BAC Meeting Dates
The Birman Breed Advisory Committee have meetings twice a year. The date of our next meeting can be found on the home page.
BAC Delegates
The BAC is made up of a Chairman, a Secretary, and three representatives from each of the four constituent clubs. The BAC delegates for each club are voted in by the relevant club to represent the membership at BAC meetings, and the delegates are all either breeders, exhibitors or judges, with substantial knowledge of the breed.
Initially, there was only The Birman Cat Club, and delegates were taken from the one committee. Over the years, more clubs have been formed, bringing us to the present day where four clubs now represent the breed in the UK.
The Chairman is Lynda Ashmore (email: [email protected] )
The Secretary is Jen Lacey (email: [email protected])
The Treasurer is TBA

Judge Appointment Scheme
The BAC administers the Judge Appointment Scheme for the Birman breed. The system is a unified system applied throughout the Cat Fancy. The requirements are clearly defined and the scheme operates within an identified procedure. The appointment and dismissal of Judges is the prerogative of the GCCF Council who usually base their decisions on the recommendations of the BAC.
The Scheme covers all aspects of training and monitoring from Stewarding, through being a Probationer Judge to promotion and review of a Full Judge. The Rules of the Birman BAC are as defined in the core GCCF Rules to ensure compatibility throughout all the Breed BACs.
The BAC also holds Seminars from time to time. These Seminars are intended to educate and train breeders, exhibitors, Stewards, those participating in the BAC’s Judge Appointment Scheme as well as existing Full Judges to ensure an in depth understanding of the breed.
